  • 440 oil pressure

Have 78' power wagon with built 440. I have 10 psi oil pressure at idle and 50 -60 psi at cruising speed. The oil pressure is sluggish to get to 50 psi. Problem is, after engines hot, at idle, I'm hearing tapping from engine. Not all the time, but enough to make nervous.

I am planning on pulling pump, and checking operation with drill. Any other suggestions?

chryslers are known to wipe there cam bearings out if there over heated even a little[ or high milage] and will make the lifters lose pressure and tick

What are you going to check with a drill once the pump is pulled?

When I had my 400 done I replaced my oil pump with a high volume Melling unit. I also run a zinc additive with each oil change.

If you want to put eyes on your top end, remove your valve covers to see what you have going up top.

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?
