  • Question about battery trays

Did Dodge install a 2nd battery in the 1st generation (89-93) Cummins trucks? If so, was it located at the passenger side front corner of the engine bay? If the answer to these questions is yes, I would like to buy one and will post in the for sale/wanted section.

No, just one battery. And the passenger side front corner is where my air box is, and I think that is stock.

I remember my 90 Cummins had one 1025 amp battery.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll just add "fabricate right side battery tray" to the list of things to do to my truck.

          What are you working on?

Some (all?) M880s had a battery tray on the front right corner. Big enough for two batteries. Maybe these were just for the radio trucks? Mine's got a box strapped on there with fluids & parts. Quite handy.

I've seen folks add a second battery to the 1st gen but it was back by the heater. Like Chewie says, the air box is up front on that side in a CTD.
