Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

Started a a western Mass utility vehicle, then ten+\- years near the ocean on southern Cape Cod, don't know yet what they did there with it, about 1K miles per year during that period, 42k now. Must have sat with the pass. side facing the water, the rt fender is nearly non existent! I found a donor truck for a new body near NE Nevada, I am trying to find a way to get it home so I can get the swap done before winter sets in, any truckers looking for a back haul?
