  • New Process 445

I have a New Process 445 I think it is called, which I got from a scrap yard.

I want it for it's close ratio gear spread, and yet I am wondering what drive shaft mates to the universal joint and female splined shaft that came on the transmission.

It appears to be a 16 spline set up, and my understanding is that it came out of a mid 70's Dodge. Which I assume is a 2 wheel drive although I could be wrong.

Does anyone have experience with these transmissions, and the related driveshafts that attach to them?

Since you will likely have to have a driveshaft built, or modified, I think I would locate a driveline shop that sells yokes and other drive shaft parts as part of building shafts. See how they would advise you.

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

Thank You Gordon. That is the most sensible route, now that you mention it.
