  • W200 vs W100?

There's a W100 here locally that has 3/4 ton axles with a real nice body I'm interested in.

If the axles were swapped, what else is still only 1/2 ton other than the springs? Is the frame and everything else the same?

Pre 69 W100's had same axles as W200's. Not sure on the frames, other than wheelbase.

On the 72-93 I think the W200's had beefier frame. I can look in my FSM to be certain.

Forgot to mention it was a '78. Sorry about that.

In '78 Dodge built Heavy Half's, but I think they still had 5 lug wheels, just heaver suspensions.
        I drive a DODGE, not a ram!

        Thanks,
        Will

According to 1974 FSM the 100/200/300 frames are the same among regular cabs, and have a larger rail height if club/crew cab.

And yes the springs vary among the three.

Thanks for your trouble. I'll go and look at it next weekend.

              Frame

The '78 manual shows the frames are the same, for the 131" wheel base (long bed). The short bed frames (115" wheelbase) are not as beefy, but they are all 1/2 tons.
