Recently ordered a pump/sending unit for my '92 3/4 ton diesel from J C Whitney. Came broken due to poor packageing and cheap construction. Will try NAPA and let everyone know how it turns out. Starting at the tank; of course it could be the wiring or the guage.Anyway, will post what I find in case anyone is having the same problem.

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good? -

I installed a mail-order sending unit. The local parts store wanted $300 plus for a new one which looked just like the cheap mail order ones. The guage now works from full to 1/2 full, then drops to empty. Now looking for a new guage.Comment
