  • Calling all restoration experts...help!

I have run into another snag in the process of restoring my 76 W200. I need a new transfer case loc switch and can't seem to find anything, anywhere. The parts manual lists the switch as a 3895 689 and the wiring as 3895 692. The service manual doesn't say much about it at all. Searching the web I have come up with nothing. Does anyone have any idea where I can find one of these switches? I suppose I can rework the switch mount and make something work but would rather just get the right switch and put it on. It would be great to find the correct wiring connector too. Anyone got one in their stash they will part with? I may have to go looking for one in the boneyard.....

    Thanks for any info!

Sorry, just noticed those were for NP205's not the NP203.

Is it a Push Button Type Ball Switch like this:

NS-36 Push Button Type Ball Neutral Safety Switch
      I drive a DODGE, not a ram!

      Thanks,

Saturn Surplus carries a lot of parts for the 70's Dodge M880, which is mechanically just a W200. Might try them.

          Close but no cigar.

I didn't think of posting a picture for you...sorry! I took some pictures and now I guess I need to learn how to post them. I am a recent subscriber so may not have permission to post pictures yet. I will try. As for those switches, I bet they would work. They look nothing like the one I need but if it comes to it, one of those will probably do the trick. The one I need is quite a bit longer though. Thanks for the info sir! I will try to get those pictures on here asap!

Are the switch(s) on the shifter rather than the transfercase?

Yes! The switch is on the shifter. I wish I could post pictures....I have finally figured out how to get the pictures off my phone and onto my computer. You probably know what it looks like now.

Cross check with the GM's they also had the switch on the shifter, should be easy to find an alternate switch that can be made to work.

Well that makes sense. Maybe they still have them at the local auto parts store if Chevy used them. I shall look right now. Thanks Mr. Watson!

Yup! That's all it does. I found the correct NOS switch on Ebay and am having it shipped to a hotel in San Francisco so I can pick it up in a couple of weeks when I pass through there. Taking the wife on a trip down there and figured why not kill two birds with one stone? Saves a few bucks on shipping.
