Which carburetor is this?

Hi:

I need to know what model Carter carb this is, and if anyone can recommend a rebuild kit for it.

I appreciate any time/comments.

I would also be interested in a carburetor upgrade if it does not involve anything more than the new carb and an intake manifold.
I do not want to pull the heads. But for now, just rebuilding the carb is sufficient.

As far as I can tell, this is the original 318 for this 1973 W200 with manual trans; I believe it is California emissions-compliant (so maybe an extra few vacuum lines, but no smog pump).

I have to rebuild mine fairly regular. Anybody know if there IS there a good simple carb that will bolt right up?

ANSWER: Carter BBD #4056D

I have found the easiest way for me to be sure on this one was to remove the top body and compare the main gasket shape with others pictured on sites such as "quadrajetparts.com".

The gasket on the lower left is an exact match to the one I removed.
Kit was $31.95 plus shipping.
