A thread on lubricants in the M-series forum causes me to think about the lubricants for the late model 5 & 6-speeds. Dodge specs different lubes for each of them. We have moved past the possibility of just having a 5-gallon bucket of SAE 85W-90 for everything.
The lubricant question is the subject of never ending debate at turbodieselregister. Broadening the discussion to all manual transmissions, synchro rings can be different, and a critical factor. they are not all brass now; some are other materials as base metal and then faced with some different material. Use of the wrong lube can damage them.
So, what are you using in the 5 or 6-speed transmission in your 1994 and up Ram Dodge? I admit I don't know what Dodge recommended for the Getrag in the previous years.
