I'm wondering if custom cab, rear, wrap around glass, was offered in a factory tint. I have a perfect tinted windshield (old stock) and can get flat glass for the side wing and doors, but have never seen a factory rear tint. I do have a factory tint rear for the standard cab, it has a "forward look" logo etched into it in the corner. Don't know how rare these are, but if someone is interested in it, let me know. Anybody have any thoughts on the big glass? I would like to find one, if they exist.

yes, I have considered having a glass shop tint it for me. The problem with that for me is, I live in a small town, surrounded by small towns, and the glass shops mostly carry grey tints. If you want green tint you have to pay for a whole roll, or drive a 100 miles to a larger town that has many tint shops that might carry green tint, etc, etc, etc. That may be what I have to do. I was mostly wondering if any Power Giant guys out there have a factory tinted custom cab rear glass or have any knowledge of whether or not any were ever produced.....was it even an option?

Hi Mark, Yes tinted glass was a option, this is what it says in the salesmans book,
under "Other Extra Equipment" for W100-W200-W300 Models
"Glass, Tint (all glass areas, except rear doors on Town Wagon or Town Panel) (W100, W200, W300)"
And what it says under W300M and W500 Models "Other Extra Equipment"
"Glass, Tint-all glass areas (W300M, W500)"
So it was a option forsure. I have two tinted "big back" windows or wrap around back windows.
I don't really like to call them custom cab windows becasue the custom cab was available with the small back window also, and just becasue a truck has a big back window, does not mean that it had the custom cab interior or vise versa.
I have a 1959 W100 (small back window) and it has the custom cab interior. I have a few 1958's like this also.
My 1959 W500, was a big back window truck and it didn't have the custom cab interior.
Both of the tinted big back windows I have came out of 1959 D300's that had A LOT of option's on them.

Hey Matt,
Thank you for your reply. I learned a couple of things from what you said, and I appreciate it. I have always been under the impression that if a PG truck had the big window, that it was a "custom cab". I guess I thought that was a large part of what a custom cab is, along with windshield visors and arm rests, etc. So, if you didn't have the big window, you didn't have a custom cab......
Also, thanks for clearing up the doubt about factory tint on the glass. Now, if only I knew where there was ONE for sale....hmmmmmm. Do you know of any? ha ha
Thanks, Mark

Mark,
Yes that is right. Just because you got the big back window, does not mean that it "always" had the custom cab interior.
You could get the custom cab interior with out the big back window. Or you could get the big back window without the custom cab interior.
I dont have any hard numbers, about how many were built with or without the custom cab interior with the big back window. But I would guess about 70-75% of the trucks I see that have the big back window also have the custom cab interior.
So it is more common to find both of the options together. But is not always a given. I also have a 1960 W100 that has the big back window and does not have the custom cab interior. I also have a 1960 W200 the same thing, big back window, no custom cab interior.
I am sure I could box one of the tinted big back windows I have here well enough to ship it to you. What do you want to trade? Do you still have my email address?
