W500 spare tire?

Question, I assume the W500's came with a factory spare. Where was it mounted? Was it horizontally located under the frame?

That's a good question. I haven't noticed many W500's equipt with spares, nor jacks for that matter. Sorta like tractors.

Neither of my 2 tons have them. I figure it'd be the same on D500 trucks, but come to think of it, don't see many spares on those guys either. Or maybe I'm just not observant enough to notice.

I would not necessarily assume it came with a spare. Others may check in on this question.

Trucks of this size 1 1/2 ton and up, the spare was optioned.
Either as just a wheel no tire, or complete wheel and tire mounted under the rear frame,horizontally.
A lot of trucks left the factory with none.
From my memory of GM and IH trucks.
I'm sure Dodge was the same.
How many truck chassis Gordon do you remember seeing just a wheel mounted under the truck?

I have the build sheet on mine and the tire/rim was an ordered option on mine. Didn't come to me with one of course and I don't see any evidence of it having been mounted on the truck. The rules where I off road require a same size spare so there will be one somewhere. Big tire to hide well!

W500 spare tire mount

Look in the parts manual, there is an under frame spare tire mount page 22-3 in the 58 parts book. I am looking for one myself. They were used on 400's to 900's with 20" wheels up untill 1968 I believe.
