I recently picked up a 1959 D 200 that we found had a story to tell under the green roller paint job. Upon stripping this truck since it's a parts truck at best couldn't help but notice it had red oxide primer under everything. All the trucks I've seen are painted body color but this one has red primer under the door panels, firewall, underside of the hood and top of the cowl all exposed. We suspect this truck had a new factory cab and front end installed early in it's life which is why the red oxide primer. The bed is gone and was replaced by 56 Ford bed so we don't know what it was like. There is a part number on the underside of the hood in crayon also. Like I said the truck is toast because of the wear and rust but interesting just the same.
