  • Help with Motor Mounts for my '64 W100

    Hello everyone,

I finally have all of the parts needed including an externally balanced flywheel to put my '408" small block into my '64. The problem I am running into is the motor mounts. I ordered the Anchor 2235's and they are incorrect. The distance in between the two studs that bolt into the ears on the frame are approximately 3.25" center to center while the holes in my frame are ~4.25" center to center. Does anyone have a source for the early mounts? I'd like to get my truck running at the end of the month and these are the last parts I need to make it happen. If needed I can supply pics showing the differences.

As always, thanks to everyone for their insight!

Any luck with the mounts ?
If you need you can barrow the mounts from my 64 crew , or just look them over and fab some.
It has an LA 318 in it and looks like the mounts you need.
Pat knows how to get ahold of me if you lost my #.

      Hi William,

It's funny to see this I was driving past the old building site behind your place on the main road today and noticed the truck beside your shop and thought "eureka!" until I realized it was your place...so much for my new barn find! Everything looks different since they took that building down.

Anyhow, I ended up taking a junk set of mounts that had the studs broken off made them interlocking by drilling out the old stud and adding a bolt/locking nut.

Incidentally, the rebuilt starter that came with the truck died and I could not bring it back to life. I even used my other two parts starters and nada. No big deal there, Rock-Auto has one coming to my house later this week. I figured the dead starter was a sign not to fire up my stroker motor to run in the cam with open headers on Sunday afternoon. I'll build the exhaust this week if all goes well.

Who am I kidding. I'll get the starter in and exhaust hung on the truck about three months from now the way it goes around here!

I still need a front seat so I'll give you a call.

      Thank you!
