  • 68 W200 rear bumper and light arrangement?

I have just begun work on a '68 W200 and am seeking some advice from the collective forum wisdom.

My truck is a former brush fire truck, and while it no longer sports the big tank, hoses, etc., it does have a big, ugly, gnarly rear bumper, designed so the fire guys could ride on it.

It is a Utiline not Sweptline bed.

Can anyone help me with a picture of what the rear bumper and lights should look like? Even better, does anyone have a clue where I might get my hands on thsi stuff?

I cannot currently upload pics due to a home
computer melt down. You can try going to:
    www.dodgesweptline.org
    www.sweptline.org
There are plenty of images to look at. Your truck's
original Utiline bumper would be a "C" channel wrap
around light duty model. They are a difficult piece
to come by. The tail lights would be round ~6"
diameter and are bolted to the rear stake pocket
channels using a bracket which is available through:
    www.mar-k.com

In some instances, the Sweptline box light duty rear
bumper [straight] was used on Utilines. I have a W200
Utiline wrecker that was outfitted with one. They too
are difficult to find. Good luck.

      Thanks John

Thanks, Mar-K was a good call as they at least have the tail light brackets. Surprisingly, I still have not found any good, detailed pictures of the back of an original '68 Utiline W200.

          Search for a '61-81 Utiline

Look at the photo galleries on
          the Sweptline sites I mentioned.
          There are hundreds of images.
          You'll find one.
