  • 225 engine swap 74 into 67

    This topic is concerning a 67 D300.

I am wondering if a 1974 225 slant 6 will be a bolt in, relative to the crankshaft/flywheel.

Have I read that there was a change in the crankshaft hub diameter between 67 and 69 thus the later engines use different flywheels.

The hub diameter did change [larger]
on later engines but I'm not positive
which year this took place. The flange
bolt pattern should be the same though.
You can likely machine the hole on your
hydraulic clutch flywheel to match the
later flange hub if necessary. Be sure the
crank is bored for the pilot bushing too.

      Thanks John,

I will continue along with my idea that this truck will get a newer engine with hardened valve seats, Electronic ignition, and most importantly better oil pressure.
