I am having problems with carter 2290. the old 2245 would not Idle correct.
i tried everything!!!!!!
i installed a 2290 carb that came off the 318-3 motor i picked up.. It Idles fine but when I try to drive truck it wants to stall and backfire through carb.
the enrichener circuit seems to be problem. iv tried adjusting vac advance canister on carb ..no difference! barely will go down the road. pumper workes great..2 steady streams of gas come out.
on thing I was gong to try is change the base gasket back to oblong vs: the one which fits bottom of carb (2 holes).
I did go through and clean the 2290 looked good and everything looks in way better shape than the 2245 as far as wear goes...alll passage's are clean!
anyway any Ideas on this one?
why do they send the 2 different gasket types anyway?
