I went to look at the '64 W200 today. As I drove up, it looked good. Got out, looked in the interior, opened the hood, checked out the bed, slid underneath, and cranked her up.
Now the owner had just replaced the slave cyl., fuel lines, rubber break lines, exhaust and a few other things, but when I started it, it was missing pretty badly. I took it out and as I drove, it got worse. After about one mile, It wouldn't get much above 30 mph. Got it back and to tell the owner no thanks.
It could be different if I had the space and $ to tear into the engine, but right now I need a turnkey truck.
It's a NASA surplus tow truck with 61,500 mi. Guages all work, has the usual rust in the floor pans, rockers, and lower front fenders. No tailgate.
If anyone is looking for a decent repairable W200, contact me, and I'll put you in contact with the owner.
The truck was purchased surplus by the current owners father.
It's in southern middle Tenn. Near Lynchburg.
