    Hello i was hoping i might generate afew responces to my post yesterday concerning how to improve the top end speed on my truck by changing differentials . I am interested in all suggestions and would apperiate the help of fellow members of this web site, thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Rick Walker.

    If and/or when the tires need replacing, you could gain a bit by going to a taller tire. Probably not more than 4-5mph increase, but the simplest improvement method.

      I came very close to buying Doug's '67 W200. Its a nice
      truck and well worth the money. The 4.88 gear isn't the
      most highway friendly gear. I'm not sure you can swap
      carriers on that axle. I'd suggest looking for someone
      parting out a W200 Sweptline that has a 4.10 or 3.54 ratio.
      You could then keep that power steering set up that Doug
      installed. The other route would be to look for a front
      axle from a newer [Lifestyle Era] Power Wagon which
      would give you disc brakes but you'd then have to
      modify your steering.

      I own a '68 W200 with the 4.88 geared axles. I don't do
      a ton of driving over 55mph so I can deal with it.
