Could use a little help

I just bought a 1969 Powerwagon, and its in rough shape. It needs driver side floors, rockers on both side(I have those), below the rear lights is completely rotted, the back of the cab is getting bubbly, but thats fixable. I need a driver side door, you can see the interior right through it. Its getting pretty crusty by the rear cab mounts. But other than that, its in good shape.. Hahah. Its got a 440 big block, built, 530 horse. 44s, Dana 70s, PTO winch, Split transfer case, and the frame etc is SOLID. But im 17 and saw all this rust and rot and wondered if there are any patches or replacement parts for these trucks. Im also looking for maybe some junkyards in New England that has quite a few of these trucks that I could take some parts off. Any advice, comments, or info is appreciated. Thanks guys.

Welcome to the group! It has Dana 70's front and rear? If so, it should be a W300.

You may have to look farther than New England to find body parts. Those cabs were rust prone. You should be able to find mechanical parts there, however, should you need them.

Thanks for the info. I am almost positive its a D70 front, too.

One question, the truck has a four speed, but the previous owner says that it has a bad Plate/Cone on the front shaft? Its a plate, probably about 4 inches by 4 inches, and it slides over the shaft of the transmission and holds the thowout bearing. The guy said that the plate itself is bad, but are there any other possibilities? Like maybe its not greased, or maybe its the actual bearing?

I appreciate the help, Ill definetly put some pictures up for you guys, its a pretty tough looking truck!

The throwout bearing assembly consists of a bearing and the piece it is mounted on. It sounds like this part associated with the bearing is bad.

I really appreciate the help. Ive been a Chevy guy, but the Dodge bug bit me. So, another question. Is there a kit that sells the bearing and the plate that it is mounted on together?

EDIT: Ive found the part on Novak's site. I just want to be sure it is the same trans before I order the part that I need. What else should I get with this bearing? Probably the gasket/seal Im assuming, correct?

The age of this particular item may affect that today, but you should inquire with your parts store, and I am meaning a first class parts store, not one of the many we see today that seems to specialize in floor mats and car wax.

Let's throttle back a bit here, however, until you know what the transmission actually is and if you truly want to use it.

Thank you Gordon. The help is appreciated. I will look closely at the trans and try to find out which model it is exactly when the truck arrives at my house. Im am currently leaning towards it being an NP435 because it looks more like that than an A833 after looking at pictures. Thanks for the help again.

Odds are it is an NP435, but enough time has passed since the truck was built that things could have been changed (and have been, if it has Dana70 axles...). The NP435 is called a 'top loader' because the shifter goes straight into the top of the transmission case, where an A833 has levers on the outside of the case, which move tabs to control shifting. Chances are pretty slim that you have the latter trans.

Yes, I have found out that it is in fact an NP435, and it was originally a W300. Its got D70s front and rear with 4.88 gears. Detroit Locker in the rear, and selectable lockers in the front. Still unsure about the transfer case though. Its got W500 or W600 fenders on the front, so it fits the 44s easier. Its got a valence panel from the same truck. Also found out that the 440 is bored .60 over, balanced and blue printed.

Thank you demulsion for the link to some body parts, although I already found a passenger side door, and a pretty decent grille. I do still need a drivers side door, and the rear corners of the bed.

I've not had a transfer case besides the NP205, so I'm not sure the clues to tell them apart, aside from the single stick/twin stick in a stock setup.

Not that it matters much, but the valance panel is the same for 300-800 series trucks.

I'm not aware of anyone who makes reproductions of the bed corners, unfortunately. Though Exline would probably fab some up for you...

No. You would have a separate actuator for the PTO.
They are in the form of a lever/stick or a cable. The
"sticks" on an NP201 are for 2wd/4wd & Hi/Lo.
