There's a guy on the www.sweptline.org website who owned a
4-eye D300 and I seem to recall it having a spare tire carrier
on it? You might try there if nobody here has a photo for you.

You might also try looking at the images section of Norm Layton's site.....

spare carrier shop made
I have looked and posted for a while and could find nothing for my 1970 W300 so I had my welder fabricator make one of my design.
The location was crucial as the 900x16 tires are huge and I didn't want pressure on my steps.
I will post a picture if I can.
Cost a pretty penny but its built like a brick s___house.

When you make yours....
I built a couple over the years and finally put a pipe with a lip on the end located so the wheel hub opening can be dropped on this support first. Once on the support the wheel can be rotated and lined up with the bolts and pushed into place really easy. An easy lock point can be put on it as well. Saves your back.
