Any thoughts regarding the Garrison power steering installed on my W300 ? Could it be a factory install ? Its a very clean job.Everything that I have read said it was not an option on the W300

I have a 1970 W300 with it; I don't know what year it was first offered. You see it on that era of truck — 1961 to 1971.

Is it power assist? I have a power assist on my '68 that I bought from a wrecking yard in Calif. and installed on my truck. It all seems like factory stuff, but it isn't original to my truck.
This is a picture of the same type steering assist that was on a W500 I used to own. Made by Garrison.

Jerry, yes your picture is of a Power Assist. Any more pictures of the set up on the W500?

I've seen a similar system on a Ford pickup in the local scrapyard. Is it something I should buy? For now I'm working on a WM 300 but who knows what will follow me home next. Jim

Not if you like road feel... They feel very vague and not at all like a modern type power steering system.

I believe there were 2 brands — Garrison and Bendix. 61 to 71
