Oh do I have tractor and splitter envy.... I am actually still swinging an axe, and heating just under three thousand square feet with wood. This winter has been fantastic exercise for me. I started very late in the season and will be cutting in the dark this evening. By the end of summer this year I hope to have a larger stock pile and wood splitter.1967 W200.aka.Hank

I'd highly suggest searching out local people and offer to help them when they split using their splitters. You'll get the best idea of what type will work best for you and probably save yourself some money in the process. For me the swinging tables and beam height are the most important as far as comfort /ease goes. It totally depends on how you gather you wood to what will work best for you. I've used most every style so if you want to know minuses, just ask.
