It was a 426 Hemi. There was a big discussion about it after it appeared in Four Wheeler magazine. There were a lot of pictures of it shown in the magazine article with great descriptions of of the features, including the Hemi engine. But, not one picture of the engine made it to print.

It sold and again sold later but by then the Hemi had been removed and no power plant had been installed in its place.

I remember talking to Soni when he was at the Rally. He said he had been offered $5,000.00 for the engine alone. This was at the 5th Rally in 1992.

The first I ever saw of the truck was an appearance in a very early 1980's four wheel magazine. Soni had just moved to the U.S. from Switzerland (I believe) and he brought the truck with him. At the time it was yellow and looked nothing like the later military inspired appearance.

It actually started out as a Plymouth Trailduster.

Dang. OK, I stand corrected. :-)

It was a neat truck. He was pulling a trailer, wasn't he?

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

What he was pulling resembled a water buffalo, but was his gas tank as the truck got only a few miles to a gallon.

            Robert Metcalfe-crew cab

Gordon, Seeing these photo's really brings back some good memories. One in particular, after seeing Robert Metcalfe's crew cab was the night we were all sitting under the tent at the fairgrounds and Debbie mentioned how ugly Roberts truck was. The poor guy was sitting right next to her and he never said a word---come to think of it, you baited her on!

Another one of the hemi-powered truck.

The fabrication and craftsmanship was really excellent.
