can anyone tell me if power wagons ever came with step side boxes? I have a 77 power wagon half ton and it has a step side box and a 360 four bbl, with a four speed tranny, is that origional eather?

Mid-70's stepside or Utiline boxes were factory items, but they are fairly rare. I am looking at a '75 [maybe?] that's a 1/2 ton, Club Cab, 'stepside' shortbed with 440/727. Very few of this combination were made.
Your vehicle is likely a special order as that was not the average Dodge 4X4 going out the doors of dealerships. Sounds like a keeper! Most of the truck 360's were 2bbl also. A friend here locally has a '78 or '79 Power Wagon with a Utiline stepside long bed, and that's the only one I've ever seen or heard of with a long step bed from the factory.
Might want to check on the driver's side of the engine block, below exhaust manifold, and see if the casting number there ends in 360-3, which would be a much more desireable 'Premium' block engine for severe duty use.
