  • An M37 in outback Australia

    Hello,
I hope these photos work as people may find them of interest.

We have just finished a 941km (thats around 580 mile) road trip in our 53 Dodge M37 that we have bought into Australia from the US. The entire trip is quite a story as we drove through some pretty drought stricken landscape with the outside temperature touching 41C (105f).

    The photos are:
Driving across some flat 'farming' country.
Being pulled over by the local Australian police (we had no number plates and were driving on a permit) The officer was just interested in the Dodge!
Outside an Aussie country pub - cold beer on tap.

    Cheers

I would like to see more pictures and the details of the trip.

It looks like the trip of a lifetime!

Sounds like an excellent basis for an article in the PWA, Chris.

        Hi Longhunter,

My name is Jeannie and I am Chris G's fiance. Yep, it was the trip of a lifetime! Driving an M37 is a great experience, and to drive it all that way (well, i.e. share the driving) through the changing landscape was quite an adventure. The old girl didn't miss a beat and we look forward to many more adventures with it. Cheers.

          Hi Jeannie:

Sounds like a fun trip. That rig looks ready to handle about anything, even deep water. HA! Are you two in any MV clubs in OZ?

            Water????
Oh yes thats the stuff I buy in bottles!

Yes we belong to a couple of clubs although they may not get to see the truck for a while as I am lifting the rear cargo area off and going to spend some time on her.
But let me tell you what a fantastic vehicle!!!

Peoples heads were just about snapping off as we went past!

I don't know if the truckies were radioing each other but they were all flashing lights, giving thumbs up etc!

This picture is out the back of an old pub that we stopped at for lunch. What should by sitting out the back ...an old abandoned Dodge.

Great to see the ol' girl going strong...
I have a couple photos of your truck in a damper environment (Aberdeen/Churchville, MD, USA, rally in 2003) on my website:
