Yes, Napco & Marmon-Herrington were big 4x4 conversion companies back then. If it's a Napco then it just means it was not a factory 4x4, but likely a conversion.
The truck has a very neat history, spent it's entire life at a steel mill pulling railroad cars around. It had airtanks and gladhands installed to power the brakes on the train cars.

I do recall seeing a copy of an advertisement for a 56-57 ish Dodge 2 ton 4x4 made & used for pulling railcars. I don't recall if it was a factory "W500" or a conversion, possibly Coleman.
It does appear to be a Napco Conversion, Stamped Napco on the housing and the axle flange. It is a 3,000 original mile truck. Or whats left of it, it led a pretty rough life as it sounds.
