    1966 Dodge D-600, 10,126 actual miles
    I am second owner.

Low miles but it idled a lot, so the 361 Industrial got professionally rebuilt at 8,910 miles.

Tires have 3,000 miles, brakes and running gear great.

Paint is great and only minor dents. No rust perforations, very minor surface only rust around door jams.

I mounted a KnapHeide bed and KH-1516 hoist.

I wanted to make a “parade” truck and put a W 500 front axle in it but never got that done.

Truck has: 9.00-20 Tires, 157 in. WB, 12 ft. bed, 17,000 lb. Eaton 16802 “NoSpin” rear, power steering, 5-speed, with split shift.

      Location and Price

      John,

Thanks for your so very correct advice!

Truck is located in Spokane, WA.

      I've placed corrected text below.

1966 Dodge D-600 Truck with 10,126 actual miles
I am the second registered owner, first was the Lincoln County Fire District.

It was a tanker truck, and therefore it did not go out on the routine calls of a pumper, instead it went out on brush fire as a water source, so it has very few miles on the chassis but it idled a lot when at fires. So I gave the engine a rebuild at 8,910 miles at Martin’s Auto, with receipts.

Tires have less than 3,000 miles on them. Brakes, and running gear in great shape. The engine is the 361 Industrial used by Dodge in many different applications.

If you love doing endless hours of sheet metal repair, and really like looking for hard to find body parts, making lots of mechanical repairs, fixing running gear etc., DO NOT BUY THIS TRUCK.

This is in really great shape, no rust perforations, very minor surface only rust around door jams, etc. It will not torture you to find pieces, and that is worth a lot. It lived indoors for almost its entire life.

Photos will show the paint and body is in good shape. There are small holes in the cab roof and side where lights and antennas had been mounted, removed before I got it. In the interior there are holes for radio and PTO controls, removed before I got it. The sheet metal is very straight with a few minor dents. The grill looks like a chubby fireman fell onto it when he was changing the oil, bending it slightly.

I replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders this year. I had the seat recovered in blue and white naugahyde (I’m sure you get the color scheme) and it is in very good condition.
The headliner is out because I have been waiting to replace it but never found the lights I wanted to install.

I mounted a KnapHeide PVMXS-123C (8x12) bed and a KnappHeide KH-1516-EE hoist when I bought the chassis, so I would never shovel material off of a truck again. The hoist is operated by a pendant switch with electric pump. The value of the bed and hoist is a large portion of the truck price.

I purchased the truck with the goal of restoring it into a working “parade” type truck. I had hoped to put a front axle from a W500 in this truck to make it a really cool “4 WD", but never got that done.

It is in such great shape someone who wants a nice and unusual vintage truck should get this.

I used it to landscape the lawn at my new home and hauled “soils amendments” for flower gardens. Since the landscaping is established, it gets little use, as you can tell by the miles.

I wanted a short bed so it was easy to drive downtown, it has about the same overall length as a full size double cab pickup truck.

      I’m asking $11,500.

The features of the truck are:
      Tires 9.00 R20 Radials front 9.00 20 Traction rear

      Wheelbase 157 inches

      Cab to Axle 7 ft

Bed length 12 ft long (96 inches wide)

Rear Axle 17,000 lb Eaton 16802 Detroit “NoSpin” limited slip
Front Axle 7,000 lb with power steering assist

      GVW 23,000 lb

      Empty Wt. 6,400 lb

      Transmission New Process 540DD31, 5-speed, with 2-speed rear-electric shift

Misc. Equipment Set of chains in great shape (1 use),4 - tie down winches, in a box, 5 -tie down straps 5-inch wide, in a box, OEM Service manual (two copies).
