  • 1962 Dodge M37 in North Carolina repowered with 454 for sale

1962 Dodge M37 in North Carolina for sale due to unexpected death of the owner.
Truck was owned and cosmetically restored to reflect its previous service with a local volunteer fire department with extensive tasteful upgrades and modifications to ensure that it is a reliable, and fun, daily driver and extraordinarily capable off-road vehicle.

The original engine has been replaced a Chevrolet 454 mated to a Chevy medium duty truck five speed with PTO while retaining the original(refurbished) NP200 transfer case. The engine has true dual exhaust locally custom fabricated.
The brakes have been upgraded to four-wheel discs (using the Helitool conversion kit utilizing Chevrolet ¾ ton rotors, calipers, and pads) activated by a dual circuit, hydro boosted, brake master cylinder with a remote fluid reservoir located under the driver’s seat for ease of access and fluid level monitoring.
The wheels have been replaced with custom 17” rims that utilize the original Budd wheel centers so that they mate perfectly to the axle hubs and maintain the period correct look of the truck will providing the availability and serviceability of modern tubeless tires. The truck has virtually new Toyo M/T Open County tires mounted.
Classic Selectro Heavy Duty front axle disconnects have been installed (original drive flanges are included with the tuck) to allow the front axle to freewheel when 4x4 is not needed saving wear and tear on the front driveline and tires.
The truck has power steering utilizing a Saginaw box, Flaming River u-joints, and components sourced both locally and from Snake River 4x4.
The truck has been converted to 12 volts with the battery relocated under the driver’s seat.
The seats have been reupholstered in black vinyl with high density foam in place of the original springs. The cushions have also been made slightly thinner than stock in order to accommodate the original owner’s 6’6” height. The cab top is a custom white vinyl with a large rear window (zippered so that it may be opened).
Billet mirror arms with rectangular mirrors have been installed on both the driver and passenger sides of the truck.
A newer gas tank was fitted to the truck, a spare tank, filler neck, and other excess parts are included in the sale. Some of the parts are currently in the bed of the truck

The winch is functional, but the driveline between the winch and the PTO have not been reinstalled on the truck. The opening in the front cross member will have to be enlarged slightly in order to accommodate the driveshaft since the angle between the winch and the PTO are not the same as with the original power train. The winch cable and hook will also have to be sourced by the new owner.
Some tidying of the wiring under the dash will need to be performed as the owner purposely left portions loosely secured in case he wanted or needed to make adjustments after the trucks initial shake down period after the restoration.
Plans had been to paint the pioneer tool rack, gas cap, and tailgate chains in silver to match the resto of the accessories and trim on the truck. The pioneer tools will have to be sourced by the new owner.
The owner planned to have red bed liner spray applied to the bed of the truck which is why the bed interior is not painted to match the truck.

The truck was driven extensively over the 2020 Labor Day Weekend at the Graves Mountain MV Trailrides and Rally in the mountains of Virginia where it performed flawlessly on the roads and trails. It has been in storage in Raleigh, North Carolina, since but is available for inspection by potential buyers.
