I will miss the friends and fun that define The Iowa Rally. Missing the 25th is especially heart-rending, but I am confident there will be a 26th and a 27th and so on. Maybe a few of us can band together and come to Fairfield then.

    Have fun!
If you move to North Carolina in late May, by Rally25 week, you will be ready for a vacation! I am pretty sure Spence (Todd Somers) is going to make the trip to Iowa. Maybe you two could work something out where you could travel together. Just a thought.

I am glad you are getting away and moving to a place I know you will enjoy.

      Gordon's truck status?

This topic seems to be a little stale? So. if you don't mind me asking Gordon, how's the W-300 project progressing? Every truck count's towards that 125 goal! Inquiring minds need to know! Doug

It changed to where I was hoping to bring my M37, but a number of circumstances stemming from having been unemployed for a year, along with a fairly recent, unexpected $1,900 repair on my Cummins powered Dodge make it entirely impossible.

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

I know where you're coming from Gordon. We dropped $2800 in my '01 for a broken piston and four destroyed valves. Luckily the chunks didn't take out the turbo. You'll get one of your trucks to the rally one of these years. Now if I can only get the two trucks I'm working on done in time.

I got my motel reservations last night at the Landmark Inn, and am looking forward to bringing my 83 D150 Royal with factory Utiline bed to my first Rally. It is all original.
I am also looking forward to meeting most of you as I have met only a few of you at Ron in Indiana's 3 truck Rally's.

I will be attending along with my wife Diane.
I look forward to seeing some of our old acquaintances and friends, as well as making new ones.

No, but Jens would. I think close to the end there is an ever-rising rate of registration, so it can be hard to guess at this point.

                      Lastest tally I know of

209 people & 75 trucks registered as of this afternoon... Jens just got off the phone with Larry @ the Packwood Locker. He will be supplying us with all of our meats for our lunchtime grilling. The VPW grill menu will will be: Wed. smoked polish sausages, Thurs: BBQ pork patty sandwich, then Friday & Saturday burgers & hotdogs. There will of course be all the toppings & several salads, chips & dips each day, with ice tea & lemonade, water & some sodas.

For probably about 12 to 15 years, Martie and I would take off work on our birthdays and go help sort out the registrations at Vintage. Having 75 trucks registered by Memorial Day was a high number and a pretty good indication that we would probably break 100. Let's hope it holds true.;)

                            PW Telephone truck demo

I see a spot picked out on the south lot where they plan to drill a hole and set a pole with a Power Wagon telephone truck.

                              Rally photos available

As everyone prepares for the upcoming VPW Rally in Iowa next week, you may be interested in taking advantage of having a professional photographer available to photograph your PW or possibly get a unique family photo taken. My daugher, Laura, who owns a photography studio, will be on hand to do the shots and will be editing and producing high resolution digital images, then placing them on CD for you to take back home with you for $25 per CD so you can print them at your leisure. In addition to the CD, you will also be able to order any of your photos or group rally shots from her website, have them printed and shipped directly to your home in whatever size/finish you like. I spoke today with the VPW folks and they are planning to have her do several group photos of the event (trail rides, wiener roast, parade, etc.). We will be on-site Thursday thru Sunday and will have a space set up at the swap meet for you to schedule your shots. If you want to see some examples of her work, check out this link to her website:

Hope to meet many of you in Iowa!
