Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

June 6-9, 2012. Just talked to Steve to confirm dates. They're checking into events for 4-5 for those of us who arrive early. Facebook event page created.

Jay, I missed your call this morning, as Holly & I were at the hospital for a baby check up, If he's not on they way by Monday doc's going to induce her.

For next year's Rally we are indeed planning for and taking suggestions for early events, beginning with a group tail ride on Sunday the 3rd, as well as other events for early-birds both Monday & Tuesday.

      * Official 2012 IOWA Rally dates are still June 6 -9th.*

Than you, I looked on the page but couldn't find any mention of the rally location.

Rally location is the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Fairfield, Iowa. If you aren't there you'll miss a once in a lifetime event for Power Wagon fans.

Thank you Ron, it's pretty close to me so I'm sure I'll make it. Maybe even bring my truck with me.

Haven't been in several years. Would like to catch the 25th. I know its early but is anything special/different being planned? Probably wouldn't be able to take the B-3 this time unless I find a lot of time and money between now & then..

Just the the number of trucks that could be attending is a good reason. It's up to the rally staff and those attending to make it a great rally. I'm sure the teeter board and trail rides will go along with great food. I'd like to put on creeper races in the open air building just for kicks. I saw it at a car show where two guys drag race on floor creepers. It's hilarious to watch and have fun. I liked the slalom race we did one year with the trucks. If it's not in the cards to bring your truck there are plenty who can give you a ride. Try to find someone down your way to share a ride or caravan to Iowa. Maybe we can use this forum as a clearing house for those looking for the same thing? Some of the east coast guys are looking into hiring a car transporter to haul their trucks to and from Iowa as a more economical way. One note the Super 8 in Fairfield is booked for the rally. I checked last weekend to confirm my reservation.

Already booked? Wow. We used to stay in that little hotel across from the fairgrounds.

The Super 8 or the Best Western are the only choices aside from camping, the old fleabag motel has been wiped off the map for a new Wally World. Also the Family Diner is gone which isn't a big loss either. The Hy Vee moved down town behind the Pizza Hut. And if it's really been a while 34 is finished as a four lane now.

Dang! Has it been that long???

My hotel has been covered by MallWart? Is there no shame?

The Family Diner gone? Where does one go for greasy home cooking?

And a FOUR LANER? What's next, a bypass?

Maybe I'll just stay home, Fairfield doesn't sound like the quaint little burg it was...

I haven't been to a MallWart since 1996. I try to seldom eat fast food and when I do I try to make it a local non-franchise. Same for motels, we seek out the little family joints (OK, so most the family's are newly Americanized now - but not all) and if a town has a by-pass I usually drive straight through town to avoid all the traffic and box stores plus get to see the old fabric even if it is boxed up and vacant...

OK, done ranting and raving. Sorry for straying off subject.

Now, once the 8 and Best Western fills, where does everybody go? My dad's a little to old to camp unless we snatch a camper somewhere. BTW - do all the Townies still get together and camp back there?

Fairfield ain't in kansas anymore is it? :D
