First Timers...

I would really like to make the 20th Anniversary rally my first Fairfield visit. Assuming the family/work/financial gods smile on me and I can afford/take time for the 2200-mile round trip… what’s the best place to stay? I’m guessing I need to reserve a room soon or there won’t be any. What about camping? I’d be bringing my wife… perhaps the kids, and the WC-51. Any tips for a rally newbie?

Hi Chris,

I plan on attending as well. My wife keeps trying to plan stuff for that weekend and I keep telling her I can't, as I am going to Iowa that week.

There is camping right at the fairgrounds, as well as a local state or county park. I camped right at the fairgrounds when I went a couple of years ago. I plan on putting up the nylon hilton again next year!

The best part of any rally is meeting folks in person that you have "spoken" with on the internet.

Like you, I'm hoping the same, but my trip won't be as long (about a 6 hour drive). We had wanted to attend this years rally, but couldn't make it work. For camping, there is always the fairgrounds, but they don't offer any hook ups. We're hoping to tow out travel trailer with the Beast, and I really don't want to be running my generator all night long.

My days of tent camping are long gone. I LOVE indoor plumbing & ac or heat. I also like putting my britches on while standing. There ARE several campgrounds VERY close by that have all the hook ups & security (not that it will be needed from the PW folk). There's also tons of hotel/motels close by (within minutes). BTW, we have never made it yet, but were real serious about this years. snif

I had asked ya over at Joe's about this bein the 20th aniversary, what with it starting in 1988, but never was able to see if you responded. So what's the deal with that? New math? HA! My math makes 2007 as 19 years, not 20 (and I still have all my fingers & toes).:confused: :eek:

Reserve camping?

I'm new to this I asked some questions already but I habve a few more. Is there a way to save a spot in the camp ground?? is there showers there? is there a place for pop up campers?? I might have a few more in time but this is all I can think of for now.

Try this link http://pw.jaybgood.com/2007Rally/giant.html Jay Good has attended the rally for many years and has put this page together. The county fairgrounds has a large area at the rear of the grounds for parking trucks and trailers. This is also where several groups set up camp. It's a very short walk to the restrooms and showers which was newly built a few years ago. The other campgrounds are close to the rally site but are on a first come basis. I camped at the fairgrounds in 2000 which was a VERY wet year but if you stay to the high ground you'll be fine. Hope this helps with your plans and we'll see you in Fairfield.
