  • 318LA and an NP420

Will an NP420 (M37 - 1952) mate up to an LA model 318 without having to mess around with the clutch? Inquiring minds want to know...as a temporary solution to run one M while I work on the NV4500 on the other one.

I hope someone that knows will answer.
I'v been cheeking for a friend, and it seems the old power wagons
have a different 420 than the newer (63) sweptline power wagons
His bolt pattern seems to wider than mine

    Can some one confirm

      Monkey Man's V8 swap method.

MonkeyMan did this. He made up an adapter plate between the original bellhousing and 318 and moved the starter to the pass side. I have his template (plexiglass). Use a hydraulic 1960's Dodge truck bellhousing to make up the adapter plate (to index the holes perfectly - the plexiglass was too vague on hole locations) - I have it too.

Do a search for his and my postings about it.
