  • Five Window Extended Cab FFPW Complete

Here's a link to my Imageevent album of my latest project, an extended cab, five window FFPW. I used the windows and frames from a 1950+/- Pilot House Dodge truck. Added 8 inches, plenty of leg room now for my 1/7 ton, 6'3" body. Feels so much better just getting in and out. Awesome to ride now.

Fantastic Job! You have the best of both worlds now, extra room and five windows. Have fun with it. Do you have any pictures of how you shortened the bed?

"plenty of leg room now for my 1/7 ton,"

You must read the Nero Wolfe novels too.

Bed was easy, only work. Sawzall down each side, and across all the boards. Drill out the spot welds from the post pockets, then plug weld those holes onto the shortened sides. Drill holes for lots of bolts. Drill round holes in the bed strips, then use a tri-corner file to make those holes roughly squares. I used a plasma cutter to make new post holes in the bed, which blew some holes intot he pockets too. An abrasive cut off wheel would work too. More effort, less weld repair.

Also, move the bed brackets at the frame back to the running board bracket position. Some tweaking involved, needs new holes in frame, and bed bracket.

Now Archie, it's time to go tend the orchids.
