Well, while I was doing a little electrical work, I left the key on too long, and burnt up my coil. The Truck is fitted with a Plymouth 218 cu.in engine, and was converted to 12 volts prior to my ownership. The coil in it was a 12T (probably UC-12T). there isn't a resistor, and I don't have one on the other truck either.
The PW PIF shows:
Coils
Resistor SMP# RU-11 (12V System)
12 Volts SMP# UC-12X, Resistor 57-68 SMP# RU-11
My other truck has a UF-3 coil (might be a UF-3T), again with out a resistor.
So do I replace it with a 12T, UF-3 or get a UC-12X?
Also should the coil be mounted pointing up or down?
Dang NAPA, O'R's, etc... Web sites can't even find these coils. I'm getting more and more frustrated with the parts guys web sites lack of part search ability.
The UF-3 crossed to a NAPA Echlin 3.2 ohm coil IC14, and as I research it's to be used with out an external resistor. Had to call the store for them to find the cross reference.
So this sounds like the one I need?
Don't you hate it when the parts guy asks "Whats this for?" when you give them a part number!
Will
