  • paint booth ventilation ???

I'm planning to add a spray booth in my shed and I look to this board as there is a lot of expertise here.

I was thinking of using a squirrel cage fan, as they move a lot of air. I'm concerned about paint/air mixture being passed across spark in the fan motor if I draw the air from the booth. The other alternative is force the clean air into (downdraft) the booth and force fumes out through filters.

    Any thoughts on this?

    Thanks,

    49 TC,
Most spray booths have a squirl (sp) cage fan as you are suggesting, but the motor is completely seperated from the air flow from the booth, it is in a air plenum with the shaft outside with a motor. The same for the lights glass or plexyglass windows with the fixture on the outside, with filters for the incoming air. Hope that helps
