I used a very large pulley from an old industrial air compresser. Its more like a flywheel, about 24" in dia by about 10" in depth. It must weight over 100 pounds. I welded a 4 inch pipe on it and a mounting plate for the vise. Being so bottom heavy I can put very large objects in the vise and still be stable. It will also roll around on a hard surface like the driveway to where ever I need it.

CRC makes a wax based corrosion inhibitor, I think its called CRC 3-26 or CRC 6-26. Its made to stop corrosion in marine enviorments. I use it on board ships all the time to lubricate and protect.Comment
