Well, as many things that were built in the days of our old trucks, they needed to be strong, stout, reliable, and resilient. Those such things have pretty much lasted through the ages.
An example of such is this welding table that I scrounged up and am building a stand for. Table is sort of incorrect, it is technically a "Platen". As many of you would appreciate, it is certainly job rated. It is 5'x5' x 6.5" thick and is well over 3,000 lbs with the stand I am building out of 3"x5"x1/4" A50 steel angle. I also intend on building a few fixtures and fabricating my own "Gooseneck" clamps out of 1.5" solid bar and Acme threaded rod as well. Just sharing because this might be fun.
