  • What is this Tool for???

    Friend gave me a box of tools. This was in the box. What is it for?? Called K-D, but the technical people said the number is "no good" so they had no idea what it was.
    The shank is hexagonal in shape as is the socket on the tab at the end. The handle has K-D NO. 2285 USA on it. Maybe someone has an old K-D catalogue and can look it up.

      It's not that old...

      ...to require an old catalog. Tom at Cheyenne Napa says K-D didn't use plastic handles before mid-80's. Probably special run of tools for private buyer/industry.

              I have a 1995 K-D catalog with 240 pages. Very complete. It has PN 2284 and 2286, but skips over 2285. So... we now know it was obsolete (I hate that word) before 1995. I'll check with my warehouse to see if they can get a handle on it.

                Tool?

                What were 2284 and 2286 for; perhaps that would give a clue as to what 2285 is?

                  I Contacted KD Tools

                  This is their reply

                  KD 2285 Battery Torque Wrench

                  Applies the correct torque when tightening the cable screw on batteries with side mounted terminals. Prevents breaking the seal between threaded insert and battery and insures proper electrical contact. Can also be used to remove cable screws.

                    Tool Identified

                    Doug;
                    Makes sense. Thanks for the info on the tool. Mostly Chevy that uses side terminals and that's what my buddy's dad always had was Chevy cars and trucks.

                      We had suspected an electrical application due to the insulation on the tool.
