  • Brake master cyl adaptor plate

I am working towards adapting a brake master cylinder from a late model ford truck to the WDX. In this situation it looks as if I will be tapping the adaptor plate for threads so that I can leave the truck original. HOW thick piece of steel do I want to be using so I can thread the bolt holes and have confidence that they will not strip.. I started with .250, but have gotten to thinking that maybe I want more heft..

What diameter thread will the fasteners be using?

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

A common guideline is one diameter of depth. So, if your fastener diameter is 3/8 in. then the thickness of the material should be 3/8 in.

You would also get a stronger connection if you used a fine thread.
