Call me crazy, but I am looking at picking up an 78 Dodge Crew cab military truck 4x4, and I darn sure I want to put a diesel in it...with this said, I would prefer a 6.2 than a Cummings. Has anyone seen this done? How difficult would this be? Does anyone make engine mount conversions for this type of swap??? It currently has a 318 with 727 auto tranny. Thanks in advance.

Not trying to sound critical, why a GM6.2L diesel? The obvious choice in diesel drivetrain for your chassis would be a Dodge/Cummins drivetrain. Not trying to say that Cummins is the only choice but a 6.2 isn't a popular choice of alternative engines I would consider even if it were free. Being a naturally aspirated engine it leaves a lot to be desired as far as power goes.
