  • 4.0 Diesel

I remember seeing a post about a new 4.0 Diesel with 375 HP and 700 LB. torque. I can't find that post now. Does anyone know anything more, or was I only dreaming?

It was me. (those numbers are not the stock numbers though, 314 horsepower at a relaxed 3,600 rpm and 538 lb./ft. of torque at 2,200 rpm. With aftermarket exhaust and a chip you should see 375+ HP and close to 700 lbs) Detroit Diesel (Chrysler), Cummins and Mercedes all have new engines with spectacular numbers for unveiling in the early Spring of 2007. Most are only 45 state legal but the 50 state models will be available in 2008 as soon as the "active scrubber, catalytic converters" are certified.
Look for V-6 diesels in Jeeps, Dodge cars and Dakota pickups. It's the only way to maintain gobs of horsepower and torque and still meet emission and new CAFE standards. In Rams look for a new 6.7 I-6.
