  • Nimitz Museum in Texas

Has anyone been to this museum in Fredericksburg North of San Antonio...? Just wanted to know your thoughts about the place. I have not been there and was thinking about checking it out.

    Great Place

I wish I couldv'e spent more time there. The entire complex was not yet finished when I was there 3/4 years ago. We have a few members in the area, Sid Beck is in Victoria,TX, Hollis Woolridge is also close by.

I'm not too far from the place myself, about 3 hours (depending on the number of DPS on the hiway). I guess the wife and I will have to make a weekend trip out that way soon and see what the place is like.

I have been to Fredericksburg more times than I can count but have been to the Nimitz only once. It's quite interesting but you can get through it in an hour or less unless you really take your time. Of course, there is a great deal to see in that area so you may want to take a weekend to visit the wineries along 290, LBJ Park near Johnson City, the Heritage Museum in Fred-burg, etc. In addition, the Pacific War re-enactment held in November is a blast so you may want to try and make that.

Yeah, I thought that would be interesting to see. Is there a big turn out for this event..? Heck, it maybe too late to book a hotel room in the area.
