The Fifth Annual WWII MV Convoy through the Missouri Wine Country.
This year’s theme is “The Road to Paris,” and the event includes a stop in Paris, MO.
The 2007 WWII MV Convoy will take place from 18-19 May 2007. This year the starting point has shifted to a new location, Mexico, MO. The event has several new additions to it, which include the lunch USO show, the big band dance Saturday night, and two catered meals served from the WWII mess truck. Event information is located at http://railsplitterslivinghistory.or...WWIICONVOY.htm
This year’s event will take us around Mark Twain Lake to the north, with planned stops at the following locations:
- The Audrain County Historical Society will be hosting us this year, with many planned activities over the weekend. We expect this new starting site to provide some variation to the event, as well as provide a fresh look to the event. Their website is located at www.audrain.org and a map to their location is located at http://www.audrain.org/visitus.html.
-The Mark Twain Birthplace Shrine, Florida, MO http://www.mostateparks.com/twainsite.htm The convoy fee includes the admission to the site.
-The Cannon Dam Spillway (lunch stop) http://www.cannondam.com/lake/pictures/ The lunch stop will include a USO show. The lunch, served from a WWII mess truck, will include grilled chicken halves or pork steaks, baked beans, Cole slaw and drinks. The USO show is to include music and dancing, and is being planned by people from Perry MO.
-A stop in Monroe City, MO at a city park http://monroecitymo.org/
-A stop in Paris, MO at the fair grounds. http://www.parismo.net/ We also are planning a drive through of a local nursing home.
-A steak dinner at the Audrain County Historical Society. It will be served by the mess truck, and the menu includes steaks, baked potatoes, beans and drinks.
-A live big band dance on the patio of the ACHS under a large tent. The band booked in the Swingin’ Axes from Columbia, MO.
