  • The Indiana Truck Ralley

To those who could not make it. I'm sorry you missed out. This was mine and my families first ralley ever. I drove my gas guzzeling 77 crew cab ruffly 150 miles one way. Took us 3 hours to get there. (thank goodness for portable DVD players for the kids and head phones for us) But back to the subject. Ron did an excellent job for hosting his first ralley. He did a sheet metal deminstation, Paraded us to the Auburn IN Museum. Which had a lot of nice old cars, In the basement they had the alot of Internatioal Harvester vehicles down there. We also got to go see 500-700 dodges. Now to my most favorate part FOOD! Let me tell you I have never tasted better sloppy joes in my life for lunch. Then for dinner I thought it was even better then luch with BBQ pork, green beans, potatos, I though I was at nice restraunt.
So if he hold this again next year you should try to come. We all had fun, my kids ran all over the property, climed every tree they could and made new friends.
Oh Ron. My wife hope she didn't offend you when she said she liked your truck but not in Red. (she'd one of those who say's what on her mind with out thinking some times) If she did dhe said sorry!

    Thanks for having us there!
    Tielking family

The only problem I had with the rally was that it went by so quickly. I'm so happy that it turned out as well as it did. I did my best to talk with everyone at the rally. My wife and her crew always come through when it comes to planning an event and preparing the food. I know we didn't have any complaints on any of the meals. I hope your boys didn't get to worn out and will remember the rally for a long time.

I didn't take offense to your wife's comment about my truck as everyone has their favorite color, mine happens to be red. You have a nice family and you're all welcome here anytime. We will more than likely have a rally again next year since this one went over so well. I will pass along your comments about the food which is the best compliment for my wife. She's already planning to make more carrot cake and Texas sheet cakes for next year.

        74,
I'm sorry we didn't take the camera. I was tring my best to get out the door by 6:30 which ended being 7:30 before we got on the road. Bob Jones tow truck was quite a looker. I wish I did take the camera now! That is the first thing to put in the cab of the truck next year.

        Ron
After we left we went and got DQ to eat on the way home. The boys feel asleep before we got to Muncie. Then we woke them up for their baths, They weren't happy about that! hehe!
We went out to the inlaws like every Sunday and they spoke about the Truck show with new friends they made and ow they will get to see them next week. Of course I said next year! Oh yeah that's right next year we will see them again. lol Kids are funny!

Pieter was in charge of pictures among other things. He'll get them up as he has time. The oldest had to be Bob Jones' 46 PW wrecker that he just completed, really nice and will be in Iowa. The meanest looking truck was 72? PowerWagon with TSL Boggers and 8" lift with a well worn(cough, cough) engine. The rest were all personal opinion but we did have a good mix across the board. Miss Eudora was right in there with the rest and a favorite with the kids. Hope you have a plate for her by the Iowa rally. If we hadn't been so busy getting ready we would have put some water in the tank to give her a shot spraying water.

Will, yes we all had a good time and again I'm sorry you couldn't make it but I understand your commitments. Jill and Jon could not make it also due to her work schedule. We see you all in Iowa hopefully, I still called shotgun in Franky.

Yes you did Bruce, on both counts. The carrot cake was a big hit along with the rest of the food thanks to my wife and her sisters. We'll probably do it again next year the same weekend between Mothers Day and Memorial Day. Pieter was the designated photographer as I was to busy with hosting duties, I didn't even have my camera at the shop.

Well that depends if you're talking about BS ing and shmoozing or making patch panels. Both were in play that weekend ha ha. One of these days I'll get my next article to Gordon, maybe I'll drop it of at the rally. Well off to paint a Power Giant today.

I am not an expert by any streeeeetch of the imagination but I think your truck looks as good or better than any of the rest of the trucks there Ron. Of course I would have to sample some of the carrot cake to confirm this.
Maybe when I retire I can show up at some of these PW gatherings and make a nuisance of myself...
Glad to hear it was a huge success Ron.

                            To Ron and everyone there
It was great meeting all you different folks. this was my first truck rally of any kind. The only other Dodge gathering I had been to before is several Dodge Brothers Club meets around the midwest
I would like to thank you for a great time and all the great food
It was neat to see a Dodge airflow truck in the truck museum(body by Gar Wood) There aren't many of those left
I was very impressed by all the different trucks there and the tow truck from Illinois was totally awesome with the Sinclair stuff painted on it
Pieter is there any way I could buy a disc of the pics you took at the rally?
Ron , you can count me in for next year, and as someone else posted on here that was sure some fantastic food there!
A very big plus is that I didn't have to do any cooking that weekend!
I really enjoyed seeing Bill Brandon's trucks as well
Thanks again for a wonderful time and a great weekend

                              Morning Tom,

Send me your snail mail address and you will receive a CD, but it will
be later in June before I mail them out. As a bonus, you will also
get pictures from the Iowa Rally (last year it was on 2 CD's).

If anyone else wants a copy, do the same.
