  • Amp Meter or Volt meter which is better?

 I am rewiring my 1966 WM300 and have run across articles that are in favor of using volt meters in lieu of the original amp meter.

My question is which is better and why.

One disadvantage of an ammeter is that you have to run the full charging system out put to and from the dashboard mounted gauge. If it is a 100 amp system, that is a lot of current to be routing over longer distances than normal. This with regard to chafing insulation and starting fires.

A voltmeter is a better, continual evaluation tool, enormously easier to connect, and much safer in long term operation.

    I vote for the voltmeter.

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?
