The gaskets that go on the rear axle flange or front hubs do you put them on dry or use a sealer on the gasket.

The ones I've installed were put on dry. Not had a problem with leaks and it's easier the next time it has to come apart for whatever reason. -
Thats what I had done with my 59 pg but on the 69 w300 there was some sealent so just checking what was correct.Comment

I know this is rather past the original post date, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents.
I've always used sealant on these gaskets. It does make it harder to replace them because you've got to take time to clean the old sealant off first, but I've never had one of them leak. Of course, maybe other folks who don't use sealant don't have leaks either....Comment
