I'd experienced the bound throttle linkage when wheeling a PW on un-even terrain. The throttle went full open with my foot off the throttle. I've read and heard stories of clutches disengaging on their own when the bodies twisted while wheeling. So I wanted a hydraulic clutch, and found a complete truck with a engine, clutch and trans to be a donor.
Keeping the same transmission, just swapped in the shift tower from my 1st tranny I pulled out in 09 as it wasn't a granny tranny. I did the shift tower swap to adress a 3rd gear shift throw and get the reverse light switch.
Frankenstein has it's new Clutch and is back on the Road (and trails soon).
Clutch works great, but just a little grabby. Shifter is tight and smooth and now with an automatic operational Reverse Light.
Clutch engagement is about mid stroke, and you can see the arm's free play and clutch space.
There was one casualty though, Not a severe one, the Water Temperature Gauge that's been lying to me about the engines temperature meet with a little too much face force while the transmission was sliding in place while hanging from the engine hoist.
That particular clutch disk does not like to be "teased"
Your either on it or off.
So don't get into a habit of trying to hold steady on a hill with
The clutch.
It won't like it.
