  • Say hello to Chris and Tugger

I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself and say hello. My name is Chris from Long Island, NY and I'm the new owner of a 53 M37 (TUGGER) that I just picked up yesterday in upstate NY. The truck is in great condition having been well cared for by the PO and having been garaged for the past 25 years or so. It was an old Air Force vehicle evidently that was purchased from a Navajo guy in New Mexico who used it to haul other trucks out of a nearby mudbog. He was kind enough to put an amulet in the cab that wards off bad juju which the PO then passed on to me. The truck was actually driven from New Mexico to NY! What an ambitious undertaking that must have been! I had a car carrier pick up the vehicle to avoid the onslaught of destruction to other vehicles that would have taken place by driving it home through NYC. My plan is to do some USMC stenciling on it in honor of my son and to use it for tooling around the area.

I'm looking forward to gleaning some information off the forum from you guys who have seen it all. The forum has already given me another excuse for doing even less at work than I normally do....

    Slick ride

and in beautiful shape! That must have been what messed up my truck, bad juju.

I think we are all here because we need info from others who have "seen it all." The beauty of the forum is that none of us have seen it all, but we've all seen a little. All of our inexperience combines to make an astoundingly experienced website.

Welcome to the club! I think you've got a great tribute idea there.

Post pictures as it comes together!

A really great looking truck. Thank you for joining us.

It is a nice tribute you offer. A salute to this man you honor.

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

I just got the call that they are dropping it off tomorrow so let the fun begin! In the meantime, thanks for the welcome. I've been poking around here and there getting a feel for the place....alot of information to absorb for sure.

            Chris,
As JS and Gordon said, welcome. You will learn a great deal on this forum as well as make some new friends.
I could never have finished my restoration without the support I received on the internet forums.
Also, you will find that in general the people who frequent this forum are proud Americans and honor the sacrifices of our troops.
            Dave
