  • Help needed - ID of military fuel pump

    Hi all, first post here.
I was wondering if I could ask for help in identifying a military fuel pump.
I would like to hear opinions on what it's application could be.
I have my suspicions that it fits the 251 / 265 engines....not so sure about the 218 / 230 engines.
    It has a primer handle.
Letters / numbers on it: "KEM 8265" and "713".
The part number on outer packaging reads "2910 495 0597".

I would post a picture, but I assume that I am not allowed.

    Thanks,
    Tom

      Matthew,
Can you send a link to a picture of a double acting pump? If not, can anyone else on here send a link?
How do I attach a photo on this forum?
      Thanks,
      Tom

          closer, but no cigar...

          Thanks for your reply Tom.
However, the picture you attached is different from mine. Vastly different.
Mr. Moderator set up my account in which I am not allowed to post attachments.
Can I email my pictures to anyone on here that will post them on this thread?
          Thanks,
          Tom

This fuel pump is cam operated, but it also has an integral glass fuel bowl attached.

Does your pump look anything like this Dodge WC one?

              We have a winner!!!!

              Carter,
It is a dead ringer for the Dodge WC!
Now I have to ask the engine application - does it fit the 218 / 230 / 251 and / or the 265 engines?
              Many thanks!
What is the going rate for these units as brand new?
              Thanks,
              Tom

It'll fit a WWII Dodge 3/4 ton WC but I don't know what else also no idea what they would be worth. Check with some of the MV parts suppliers like VPW or Midwest Military and see what they charge. If it's got the old type internals that can't handle E85 they will only be useful as a core and not a serviceable unit.

                      pump

I have an early style or powerwagon pump on my m37. I had the stock one on there and with or without the vacuum pump, the stock wipers still sucked just some info in case you get caught in the rain. I managed to do it with the top off...was considering wiper blades on the inside of the windshield for a little while.

                        vacuum operated wipers

                        Matthew,
The old style vacuum operated wipers certainly do leave much to be desired...the faster the engine moves under load, the slower the wipers work.
We sure have improved as technology moves on.

you have the very hard to find desirable WC pump with primer handle. the WC guys doing restorations like to have those. you can get it rebuilt. it should fit any chrysler flathead 6. problaby tghe straight 8s too.
