Yo!
Replacing master cylinder on a M43. Vent line from the side of the top plate on MC was cut and tucked under frame edge. . God knows how long this was like this.
Reviewed manuals and confusing as to where the original line went to.
New MC has no vent aperture. Checking out the other trucks, the lines appear to connect to the carb inlet.
I can switch the top plates and make up a whole new vent line as it is missing. This will be an ENDEAVOR. Do these lines have to have the double crimp as well? These vent lines on my other trucks are smaller diameter than the brake lines.
What value this line in a system that is to avoid moisture?
BTW, I am updating to silicon brake fluid, new lines, wheel cylinders, etc, etc.
Yes, even the brass connectors and flex lines.
What if I leave the master cylinder as is and unvented?
Previously, I rebuilt or replaced my other M43s MCs with vent lines in place, simply reconnected fittings, etc. Kept DOT 3 in those.
Thanks in advance.
Jay
